Visit Bauduen (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France)

Photo Gallery

Bauduen is a small village on the southern shores of the Lac de Sainte-Croix, a popular leisure lake in Provence.

Explore Bauduen

The primary attraction for visitors is of course the Lac de Sainte-Croix, where you will find swimming, boat trips and watersports. Bauduen itself is the most interesting historic village on the shores of the lake.

You can park at the south-east end of the village, very close to the beach. The beach in Bauduen is quite small and parking limited.

There is also a natural harbour here that contains several small pleasure boats. From here you can walk along the lakeside in Bauduen: there are several places where you can pause for a coffee or ice cream but facilities are otherwise quite limited.

The big surprise in Bauduen is the historic village just behind the lakeside promenade. Although it is not very large, historic Bauduen is very picturesque with narrow streets and ancient stone houses up the side of the hill.

At the top of the hill you will see a charming small church, half hidden by the trees. The Church of Saint-Pierre was built in the 16th century and the belltower added in the 18th century.

Bauduen is on a narrow stretch of water so you can get a pretty view across the lake to the village if you take the road towards Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon from here after exploring the village (or arrive from that direction).

Attractions nearby

There are several other places of interest to visit as you explore the shores of Lac de Sainte-Croix. The resort at Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon is to the west of Bauduen, you can visit Les Salles-sur-Verdon to the north-east, and the small town of Aiguines, to the east of here, is also pleasant to explore.

A short distance to the east of the lake you will also want to visit the Gorges du Verdon to see the lovely scenery, and the village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie to the north is a very lovely destination.

You can find more travel ideas in the Var guide and the Provence guide.
