France This Way review: Sénezergues is a tiny village that you will not want to travel far to visit, but it has some pretty buildings and views and merits a stroll if you are nearby
The church is the principal historic monument in the centre of Sénezergues, and has a very plain stone facade, interrupted only by a central gothic style entrance and a small window above the door, in the shape of a four leafed clover. To the rear of the church is a square stone tower with a gallery just below roof level.
You will also see a couple of pretty houses in the centre of Sénezergues, some interesting wooden statues, a war memorial and lovely views across the countryside of the Cantal department.
Close to the church is a monument to the burial site of Réghaud, first owner of the Chateau de Réghaud (see below).
In the valley below the centre of Sénezergues you can see the Chateau de Réghaud. Although the castle can not be visited (it is now an imposing private residence) you can still admire the architecture of the castle.
The castle was originally built in the 13th century, although this early building was destroyed by the English during wars in the region, and the castle rebuilt in the middle of the 15th century.
The Chateau de Réghaud is of rectangular form, with round towers in each corner, and has retained most of its original appearance, except that part of one of the towers has collapsed, and the moat that originally surrounded the castle has now been filled in.
