The beach is concave and sandy, with several picnic tables in the shade of the trees and a small cafe. The beach is quite attractive, with rocky areas and rock pools to explore.
There is free parking for about 20 cars next to the beach, as well as a hotel-restaurant.
In the centre of the village, about two kilometres from the beach, there is a square with a small old church, the town hall and a shop selling basic provisions.
You can also see a pretty cemetery and a war memorial.
House and Gardens of Georges Clemenceau
The principal attraction in Saint-Vincent-sur-Jard is also near the beach. The Maison et Jardins de Georges Clemenceau is now a house a gardens that can be visited. Georges Clemenceau was Prime Minister of France on two occasions in the early 20th century, including the period 1917-1920, during the First World War.
He bought this house in Vendée after he retired in 1920 and lived here until his death in 1929.
You can now visit the house as it was at that time, as well as the gardens with a view across the sea. Both the house (a bungalow) and the gardens are quite modest in size, but a visit is interesting if you are interested in the history of that period.
The George Clemenceau house is next to the same parking area as the beach.
Overall, Saint-Vincent-sur-Jard is pleasant to visit if you are exploring the Vendée coast but would be rather quiet to make a base for a more extended stay.
Attractions nearby
The centre of Jard-sur-Mer has a beach and a promenade next to the port which is pleasant to follow, and at Talmont-Saint-Hilaire you can visit the medieval Chateau de Talmont - during the summer, various events are organised at the castle.
