Morzine is a popular ski resort in the French Alps, east of Geneva and to the south of Lac Léman, the lake on the border between France and Switzerland.. Along with nearby Avoriaz it is within the 'Portes du Soleil' ski region, one of the most popular ski regions in the Alps.

Explore Morzine

The first thing that visitors to Morzine notice is the attractive setting, with forests and mountains around the town, and the use of traditional architecture within the resort itself, with small villas and apartment blocks built using local materials such as wood and slate to ensure that the town integrates very well within the surrounding environment.

Morzine is unusual among ski resorts in also having an interesting architectural heritage to discover.

Winter and skiing in Morzine

The resort itself varies in altitude from about 1000 metres to about 2500 metres. A total of 85 ski-lifts and chair-lifts provide easy access to more than 180 kilometres of ski slopes. As part of the Portes du Soleil ski domaine, the choice of slopes and off-piste opportunities in the immediate vicinity is almost unlimited - there are 650 kilometres of ski runs to choose from!

As well as skiing you will find lots of other winter activities here, including a luge, hang-gliding, ice diving, snowmobiles and hot air balloons among others. There is also a large leisure complex in Morzine where you will find ice-skating, swimming pools, tennis, spas and other sports.

The station is open from late December to the middle of April each year.

Although Morzine is not the largest of the ski resorts you will still find plenty of choice of ski hire centres and shops, bars and restaurants for your all important apres-ski! The resort is particularly welcoming to families and has various childrens clubs and facilities available.

Summer in Morzine

During the summer months Morzine is also a popular destination, with lots of different ways to explore the beautiful countryside. The most popular are cycling, hiking, mountain bikes and climbing, while the more adventurous will enjoy activities including white-water rafting, caving and the via ferrata.

More relaxing pursuits such as golf and fishing are also available here.

The location of Morzine have made it a very frequent arrival destination for stages in the Tour de France, and stages in the Hang-gliding World Cup have also taken place here on several occasions.
