When I got married, rather a long time ago I have to admit, we spent our honeymoon in Paris. Now wasn’t that romantic. It was probably the only romantic thing I’ve ever done, so I remember it quite clearly.
It was very pleasant, we saw all the sights, ambled hand in hand along the Champs-Elysées in the sunshine, smiled at each other across candlelit escargots, all those honeymoon type of things. Unfortunately we were rather poor at that time and were still trying to pay off debts caused by three years of drunken excesses at university, so our hotel was not the most impressive you have ever seen.
We were on about the fourth floor of a backstreet hotel with no lift, in a room that was not much larger than one of those trendy Japanese capsule hotel rooms. The view from the window was of drainpipes and barking dogs rather than the Eiffel tower and Montmartre.
Did it spoil the honeymoon? Not one bit. Would we have rather been in a luxury penthouse suite with sweeping views across Paris. Well, I don’t think it troubled us much but yes, that would have been nice.
Which brings us to the present. Yesterday I was contacted by a company that only lists hotels where you really will want to stay, even if it means selling the Mercedes and catching the bus from now on. They asked if I would like to feature the hotels on this site.
What could I say. After an hour or two drooling I have now identified my ideal Paris hotels and if I ever have the chance I’ll stay in a couple of them myself. Although a second honeymoon seems unlikely for the time being.
Search for the Kube Room Hotel – awesome! one problem came to light whn i was investigating luxury hotels…
For one of the hotels listed I did a search for prices and availability, for two adults and two children in August. No rooms available. I repeated the search in June, still showing no rooms available. I then removed the ‘two children’ from the request, and as if by magic rooms became available whenever I wanted. So I might just need to wait until they have left home, or book them a room in a different hotel nearby…happily I know just the place, I stayed there once many years ago.
