Impulse Shopping

Now I’m not a big shopper as a whole - in fact I find the whole shopping experience pretty unpleasant - which I suppose has the advantage that I don’t cost much to keep, and the disadvantage that I’m always a bit scruffy.

Well last night all that changed. For the first time in my life I bought something on impulse. No thought, no planning, just leapt from bed when the thought struck me, and went straight ahead and bought it. I quite enjoyed the thrill of it all, I have to admit - I can see this late-night shopping becoming quite addictive.

Now you might be wondering what I could possibly buy in the French countryside in the middle of the night. If I say ‘You’ll never guess’ and you try to guess (go on, try…) you won’t get it. Ever.

I bought a domain name (a website name). I’m not going to tell you what the name is, sorry, but I want to keep it as my own little secret for the moment. But trust me, it’s a good one. Not quite ‘google’ or ‘digg’ or ‘yahoo’ but pretty racy all the same.

To be honest, I don’t know when there will be something there in the site, or what it will be when it gets there. It doesn’t matter too much for the time being, it’s mine now, I can do what I want with it. If I can think of something that might make a few pounds to recover the cost that might cheer Mrs B up as well (the name cost about £14 for the first two years, what a bargain).

The idea was prompted by a free website layout I found somewhere else that I like but can’t for the life of me think what I could do with it. I’ve put it at www.francethisway.com/network at the moment while I think about it - take a look, and let me know if you have any bright suggestions what kind of site it might be suitable for. Or if you think it’s unsuitable for anything at all and I should go and mow the grass instead of wasting my time, effort and money on such silly things.

Anyway it’s late now, and I have to be up in a few hours to start cleaning the house - Mrs B is on her way home from England, and frankly she won’t be impressed by the number of dead things the cat has dragged in from the garden and left on the kitchen floor, so I’d better move some of them before she gets here.
