Expat French newspapers

Given the recent demise of the ‘French News’ newspaper, it might seem bold, even reckless, to launch a new newspaper targeted at the same audience just three months later, but that’s exactly what some brave souls are doing with ‘The French Paper’.

I’m impressed! Personally I often struggle to think of a couple of blog entries a week, so the thought of producing enough information to fill a monthly newspaper gives me the colly-wobbles.

Quoting from their blurb:

“We want to help expats in France and frequent visitors  ‘get’ France!  The more we can understand what makes France ‘tick’ the more rewarding and enriched our lives here will become….each issue of theFrenchPaper will be packed full of information, insight and inspiration…

•  What todays French news really means to you
•  Inspiring stories about people and places
•  Practical help and advice on healthcare, finance and setting up a business
•  Help on consumer issues
•  Great features on food, wine, travel, property, gardening and country living
•  A dedicated section just for kids”

Anyway, it sounds like a laudable goal, the newspaper is called ‘The French Paper’ and should be available in your local newsagents from June onwards.

Even better, if you are like me and prefer a freebie fill out their expat survey for a chance of winning a free one year subscription.

The survey is extensive (have tea and biscuits to hand before you start)  but worth the effort because when the results are out they should give lots of useful insights into why we stay in France – whether it’s because we love it here or because we can’t afford to leave; whether we find it insupportable to live without guinness, etc

Be sure to complete the survey because if I am the only one to fill it in you’ll be able to guess which boxes I ticked, which might be a little bit embarrassing.

See their website  www.thefrenchpaper.com for details of the survey and free subscriptions.

According to the website, you can also win 1000 euros if you sign up for their newsletter. But I shouldn’t tell you that because it reduces my own chance of winning, so forget I mentioned it. Thank you.

One Response to “Expat French newspapers”

  1. They interviewed me for the first edition. I guess it should come out any day. The reporter was very kind and sent me the responses right away but I was too busy to properly review them and offer suggestions so I fear a little what it will say. Anyway, glad others know about the paper. Maybe I’ll get some mre traffic to my blog.
