Earn cash from your holiday in France

Here’s an idea you might like – francethisway can put cash in your pocket!

Loads of you will be visiting France during the coming months. Our goal is to have complete coverage of all the places of interest in France, and to become the leading resource for people visiting the country. A challenge that is just a bit too big for myself and Mrs B alone.

So we thought we’d try a new approach – we will pay people to write about the towns and places where they live, or visit on holiday. Now we aren’t the richest people in the world and Bill Gates hasn’t offered to help out, so we aren’t talking megabucks, but hopefully we can entice a few of you to join in.

The details are at Get Paid To Write About France but broadly the cunning plan is that most people on holiday (or living in France) get to know the local sights pretty well. So they (you?) write articles about their favourite places, take a quick photo, and send them over to us to be included in the website.

We then hand over 5 euros for each article accepted. Write one or several, all are welcome. So if you visit and write about five towns, castles or theme-parks during your visit, we will pay 25 euros. OK so you won’t get rich (unless your holidays go on for several months) but it will only take a couple of hours and should pay for a few bottles of wine.

We’re not looking for Wordsworthian poetry or great works of literature, just everyday writing!

Why would you do this? Cash and glory of course. Well OK pocket money and self-satisfaction, but that’s almost the same thing.

Why would we do this? Because the better the site is, and the more thoroughly it covers all areas of France, the more people that will use it as a guide when they are choosing a holiday -and while they are on the site, will think ‘Oh, I’ll just book a holiday in France while I’m here, and perhaps I’ll hire a car as well…’.

Will it work? No idea! but we’ve set aside the budget to give it a go so if you are visiting France this year bring your scribbling pad and pencil along.

Although you’ll want to have a quick look at the ‘small-print’ at Get Paid To Write About France – for example, if you write 27 articles about the detailed history of each house in a unknown hamlet we are unlikely to pay up – broadly speaking we are hoping the plan gives a good boost to the site content.

If you already live in France, you are welcome to write about your region, and if you have gites yourself please feel free to print out the ‘details’ page and flaunt it at any likely looking candidates who stay in your properties. Although we might ask you to withdraw it later, if we receive hundreds of almost identical articles about your local village…

Add this page to your ‘Bookmarks’ or ‘Favourites’ now so you don’t forget!

Hi Boris, I’ve been following your blog for some months now as my husband and I are thinking of moving to France in the next couple of years. Well done for your blog, and best wishes for your family and future in France.

Boris, I know I’ve seen it on the blog, but whereabouts in France are you, and do you know much about the Haute Vienne region? Thats were we’re thinking of moving to, and we’re coming over for a visit next week. We want to live in a small village or town, where (over time) we would get to know the locals and fit in a bit easer. When we come over next week it would be nice to have a list of the most suitable villages or small towns in the area to visit.

If you live nowhere near this region, thanks anyway.

    Regards, Val Hitchman
Keep up the good work with the blog, and further to your comments a few days/weeks ago, I WILL WRITE AND THANK YOU IF YOU RESPOND!!
