It was difficult to persuade the children they wanted to explore the Marais Poitevin, but from what I saw I could see it was a fascinating place - the cycle route I chose was entirely my own bad planning and not at all a criticism of the region... Marans was a pleasant discovery incidentally - let down by the main road through the town perhaps, but I loved the church and thought it was a very unspoiled little town. I would have done if I knew were you lived…
