Budget flights and discount airlines

(Note: we now have a detailed search facility for flights that searches all the airlines: see cheap flights to France).

The following entry is a sponsored review.

As you know I don’t do many ‘site reviews’ here – usually less than one a month. Before accepting a site for review I check out the site, to make sure that it is suitable and is one I’m happy to recommend. Some are more so than others and very occasionally a site comes along that I wish I’d found myself first, and can heartily recommend.

The site airninja.com is just such a site. Using what must be one of the easiest ‘user interfaces’ I’ve ever come across, the site finds all the discount airlines that fly between any two given destinations. Worldwide, from South America to Eastern Europe, and most places in between.

Finding the discount airlines for a given route can be a real pain to do, but can save a fortune in your flight costs, so a site that simplifies the task is very welcome.

And when you don’t have so much money, it becomes possible to choose where to go based on whether you can get there cheaply or not. This is my preferred approach!

I tested the site of course, using Bergerac and Rodez as examples (because I’m familiar with them). The site returned results instantly and, more importantly, accurately.

I didn’t realise that Bordeaux, another airport near here, had any discount airlines at all. Now I know I can fly from Bordeaux to Venice, Milan, Oslo, Marrakech and several other interesting cities on discount airlines.

Having found which discount airlines operate on a given route, you can click through to the airline websites and organise your flights.

I can’t begin to tell you how useful it is to have all this information pulled together in one place like this, and if you travel at all you need to bookmark this site! Remember the name: AirNinja

It’s not 100% complete yet but people have found it very helpful so far.
