In these days of what we politely call the ‘downturn’ every opportunity to find a bargain or save a few pounds (or euros) is always welcome.
So I’m going to break a five year habit and tell you about a bargain, although it might look like advertising.
Of course, I’ll be as subtle as I can so it doesn’t actually look too much like advertising, but I’m not good at ‘subtle’ so I’m sure you’ll see right through me.
If you are wondering where in France to drag your family this summer you might well have considered all the low price options: camping by a stream on a farm with no facilities and rather a lot of unpleasant smells; finding a gite for less than £100 a week and then explaining to the children why their bedroom is full of beetles; staying in a ’4-in-a-room’ hotel on the edge of a motorway…
But there is one more option you might not have come across – but you only have 2 days left to book, so no dilly-dallying!
Holiday villages, as you might guess from the name, are purpose built ‘villages’ where you spend a holiday. There are lots of them in France.
You book an apartment or small house in the village, and then sit quietly on the terrace drinking rather too much wine while the children rush around playing in the pools and games rooms, enjoying sporting activities, and generally exhausting themselves without any effort on your part.
We’ve stayed in several ourselves over the years, with and without childre, in season and out of season. The secret is – they often offer great value for money for a cash strapped family, and are often in impressive locations.
Why am I telling you this now? Because Pierre et Vacances have got a great deal on at the moment, up to £400 discount – but only if you book by 31st May. Of course I can’t promise they won’t have more deals later on but this one looks good enough to take a look now!
Just so you remember this is an advert as well as a personal recommendation, here is a big flashing banner to click on instead of a subtle link:
And don’t forget – book now or it might be too late. You should still check even after that date, who knows what will turn up next, just don’t blame me if you leave it too late and then all that’s left is the ‘sleeping in the car in the motorway services’ option!
