OK two posts, one straight after the other. Has he got nothing better to do, I hear you asking. Well, yes, I need to go and clean the swimming pool and tidy up a bit of garden but this will only take 5 minutes of my time to write (and about 20 seconds of yours to read) so I think we’re both OK.
As I mentioned before, Mrs B and the children have just set off for 10 days fun in the sun. Well, strictly, they are visiting friends and family in England but it amounts to the same thing. I am ‘home alone’ for almost two weeks. Hey hey what a lot of fun I can have.
Or so you would think. But sadly I am of that age where two weeks alone doesn’t mean I will throw all-night parties, or get drunk every night and forget to shave in the morning (which I rarely bother to do anyway, if truth be told).
What it actually means is that I can get some jobs done which are awkward when the family are here – polishing the kitchen floor for example. I can also spend an even more unnatural amount of time on the computer than I already do, in an increasingly desperate attempt to scratch a few euros together from my online activities (I dabble in website design and web publishing, whatever that may mean). Oh yes, and I have to remember to feed the cat, that being the only way to stop him biting my ankles while I work.
So regular visitors to this blog should see an enormous increase in output in the coming days. I have barely touched on the Tour de France, the only sporting event actually worth following; I have only mentioned Chirac once this year I think; I have not had a chance to talk about the bindweed that is overrunning the field (that should be a gripping instalment); and as for the children, well you would think they had grown up and left home I mention them so rarely. These and hundreds more issues coming your way soon.
By the way, ‘regular visitors’, I know you are out there because my site statistics never lie, but who are you? where are you? Please leave a comment!!
Unfortunately I need to moderate comments before they are published, to avoid the large number of people who post entries like ‘Great blog, why not get your viagra at www.viagraonline.com’ or 101 other entries in a similar vein in a desperate (and presumably successful) attempt to get publicity and links for their sites. But if you have something ‘normal’ to say it will be very welcome.
Anyway, I must go and clean the pool before the happy families in the gites want to go swimming, so have a nice day and don’t miss the last leg of the Tour de France this afternoon.
I couldn’t agree more with this post. The more I think about it, the more you’ve got to drive the point home. Great stuff!
Thanks for that comment…but please do tell us which point you are referring to and what are you agreeing with? The one about ‘need to moderate comments in the guestbook before they are published’?
Cheers
