Ski regions in the French Alps
Many of the ski resorts in the Alps now form part of extensive groups of interlinked resorts, ensuring that a very wide range of skiing opportunities are available to satisfy even the most demanding of visitors (or complete novices).
The most well known (and most popular) ski resorts in the Alps in France include the 'Espace Killy' ski region, with Val d'Isere and Tignes; 'Les Trois Vallées' with the resorts of Meribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens; the 'Portes du Soleil' ski region, including Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz; and the 'Paradiski' group (including La Plagne, Arc 1800, Arc 1950, Arc 2000 etc).
Ski holidays at the resorts of Chamonix (Mont Blanc), Serre Chevalier, and Valmorel are also very popular choices.

The major French ski resorts all offer all the facilities that you would expect - ski shops, ski hire shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, etc as well as possibilities to pursue other outdoor activities. They also promote their locations as ideal for summer holidays in the mountains - hiking, mountain biking etc - due to the access to the high mountains that they provide.
