Bellac is situated to the north-west of the Haute-Vienne department of Limousin, near the border with the Poitou-Charentes region.

It is a small market town with a few places of interest to attract the visitor:

- The 13th century stone arched bridge across the tranquil River Vincou is a good place to start and to have a view across the town.
