The village of Hierges is dominated by the romantic ruins of a castle! Both by its appearance and the interior of its gardens, the castle is amazing - the history of Hierges is the same as that of its castle. Even the Gauls exploited the iron of Mont Vireux and archaeological discoveries indicate a significant economic activity, and the need to protect the Gallo-Roman town. The castle provided protection of this small village, rustic houses and cobblestone streets. The architecture of the castle has evolved from wood to stone, to become a fort built in the ninth century. It was completely rebuilt in the sixteenth and demonstrates the art of war Meuse.
