Sainte-Eulalie d'Olt ('most beautiful villages of France') is about 30 kilometres north-east of Rodez, in the Aveyron department of the Midi-Pyrenees.

Sainte-Eulalie d'Olt is a pretty village on the banks of the Lot River. It has a maze of narrow medieval streets, constantly overlooked by the castle towering overhead. There are lots of interesting ancient buildings to see throughout the village, among them the 17th century mill, the old school, the castle itself and the 16th century Renaissance hotel.
The church in St Eulalie d'Olt is a very nice Romanesque style church, originating from the 11th century. It is reputed to contain two of the thorns from Christ's crown in its shrine - this forms the centre of a procession through the town on the second Sunday of each July.
Many villages and towns in France are classified as 'ville fleurie' - sometimes this seems to be a bit of an afterthought, but in Sainte Eulalie d'Olt it is a serious matter - they have even come first in the annual awards. The locals clearly take great pride in their floral displays, and these add a very nice touch during the summer months.
