Saint-Come d'Olt ('most beautiful villages of France') is about 25 kilometres north-east of Rodez, in the Aveyron department of the Midi-Pyrenees.

Tourist Information and places to visit

Saint-Come d'Olt is a pretty village, and well worth a visit if you are in the region. The 'old' centre of the village is very compact, and has lots of attractive medieval buildings squeezed in to the small space.

Unusually for a 'most beautiful village' it also has a lot of 'unrenovated' ancient buildings, which contribute to the 'unchanged with time' appeal of the village.

One very unusual aspect of the church in the centre is the spire, which is twisted (perhaps not the technical term!) - there are very few churches of the design to be found.

The village of Saint-Come d'Olt, I believe, will change considerably over the next 10 years as the fine old houses become restored. Visit now!

While at the village, take a drive up the hill opposite to see the 'lava flow' - a curious sight, where an enormous 'river of rock' spreads down the mountainside, surrounded by trees and fields. A very unusual and interesting sight, a nice picnic spot alongside, and your children can enjoy clambering over the massive rocks!
