Semur-en-Brionnais ('most beautiful villages of France') is 25 km N of Roanne in the Saone-et-Loire department of Burgundy.

Apart from the pretty village itself - classified as a 'most beautiful village in France' - there are two reasons that people visit Semur-en-Brionnais.

The first is the Chateau de Saint-Hugues, with its collection of revolutionary posters - said to be the oldest castle in Burgundy, and once home to the powerful Semur family
