Moustiers
Moustiers-Sainte-Marie ('most beautiful villages of Provence') is near the Gorges du Verdon in Provence.
Tourist Information and places to visit
Moustiers is an attractive village on the western side of the dramatic Gorges de Verdon.
Perched 100 metres up a high limestone cliff, the setting is as attractive as the medieval village itself. A spring from the cliff gives rise to a waterfall in the village itself.
The town has a long history of making attractive pottery which is available in some of the numerous workshops in the village. There is also a museum dedicated to the history of the pottery making in the village.
Unfortunately for Moustiers, its location next to the Gorges du Verdon has all been a bit too much, and the number of tourist shops, restaurants and cars has done little to enhance the original village.
