Eus
Eus ('most beautiful villages of France') is 40 km west of Perpignan and 10 km north-east of Villefranche-de-Conflent
Tourist Information and places to visit
Eus is said to be the village in France that gets more sun than any other! Presumably others claim the same but it does suggest it's a sunny spot.
Eus is a small town, and it is the part that is found higher up the hill that is most interesting to visitors - an attractive medieval centre and the church of Saint Vincent, clearly built with defense in mind, and constructed on the site of a chapel that belonged to an earlier castle.
After having a look around, and taking the obligatory photo from the bottom of the hill, follow the path up to the left of the church a little way through the fruit trees for more attractive views.
When we visited, Eus was quite busy - lots of tired children struggling up the hill in the sunshine - and I recommend trying to avoid afternoons in high season.
